The field of medical genetics lends itself to rich reflections on what it means to be a human. Below I highlight a few of my projects that underscore the "human" in human genetics.

Special issue of
AJMG Part C

Guest co-edited a June 2021 Seminars in Medical Genetics focused on syndromes and malformations in art and antiquities. The entire issue is available here, and my personal essay about Hindu mythology and medical narratives can be read here.

Fernbach Lecture for Humanism in Genetics

I co-direct the Fernbach Lecture for Humanism in Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. Our inaugural speaker in 2022 was Taylor Harris, author of This Boy We Made, a memoir about mothering a child with an undiagnosed genetic disorder.
